Upcoming Marvel Movies 2021 And 2022 Release Dates

Ten films starring Marvel characters would be released in Phase Four (2021 and 2022 production). Check out the rescheduled release dates for the 2021 and 2022 Marvel movies below.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, most of the blockbusters have delayed their release dates. While some producers opt for an online release, this is not a favorable option for Marvel movies that get their best effects in the theater.

In 2021, five Marvel films will be released, one of which is produced by Columbia Pictures in collaboration with Marvel.

Black Widow Movie

Among all the Marvel movies 2021 and 2022, Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson’s flagship movie is probably the most anticipated. Initially scheduled for May 2020, the superhero movie has been delayed 3 times before ending its premiere on July 9, 2021.

Black Widow – one of the hottest Marvel movies in Phase Four

Considering the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the US and some other markets, the launch of Black Widow in July this year is highly likely. However, as for the Indian audience, we may have to wait longer to see this success in the theater given the increasing number of confirmed cases at the moment.

Black Widow was developed in 2004 by Lionsgate and David Hayter. It wasn’t until 2010 that Scarlett Johansson officially cast the lead role, along with other roles of the same character Natasha Romanoff in the MCU series.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

This is the first Marvel movie with an Asian protagonist, Simu Liu in the role of Shang-Chi. Although the project in Shang-Chi had started since 2001, filming only started in February 2020 and was later postponed due to the pandemic.

Shang Chi is the very first Asian lead in MCU history.

If all goes according to plan, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will have its US premiere on September 3, 2021, two months after Black Widow.

For his information, Simu Liu, who takes on the lead role as Shang-Chi, was trained in martial arts and gymnastics at a very young age. He practiced Taekwondo and Wing Chun, and also worked as a stuntman before participating in this project.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

In fact, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is not a Phase Four film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, we can’t leave it out of the 2021 and 2022 Marvel movies as it focuses on the Marvel Comics character Venom.

In addition, his production company, Columbia Pictures, collaborated with Marvel to obtain the most authentic product related to the character after the success of Venom in 2018.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage stars Tom Hardy in the title role as investigative journalist Eddie Brock. Eddie harbors an alien symbiote that possesses superhuman abilities and a violent ego. This other side of Eddie is Venom.

Furthermore, this project also witnesses Marvel Studios’ first superhero LQBTQ. The production team first developed Eternals in 2018 and completed filming in February 2021. Spider-Man No Way Home

The last Marvel movie to be released in 2021 is the third installment in the Spider-Man series.

Morbius

Unlike many other Marvel 2021 and 2022 films that feature familiar characters in previous Marvel film works, Morbius features a new character of the same name from Marvel Comics.

According to the original version of Morbius in Marvel Comics, this man suffers from a rare, life-threatening blood disease. In a desperate attempt to heal himself, Morbius undergoes a dangerous treatment that turns him into a vampire form. In the Marvel world, Morbius is the antihero against Spider-Man.

American actor and musician Jared Leto will take on the lead role of Michael Morbius in the film. Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Al Madrigal, Tyrese Gibson and Jared Harris are in supporting roles. The film is scheduled to open on January 28, 2022, more than a year since its initial programming.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Building on the success of the 2016 Doctor Strange movie, Marvel immediately had plans for a sequel after the release of the first movie. However, the protagonist Benedict Cumberpatch took two years to confirm his return. This will also be another film with American actress Elizabeth Olsen. Filming began in November of last year and ended last month.

The next Doctor Strange movie unveils a friend-turned-enemy character.

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Stephen Strange accidentally unleashes an evil that used to be his friend. So far, not much information has been leaked about the history of this sequel.

The film is scheduled for March 25, 2022 in the United States as part of the MCU Phase Four productions.

Thor: Love and Thunder

While Thor fans are excited about the return of their God, many cannot hide their disappointment when Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is not seen in the all-star cast.

Sadly Loki is no longer present in this Thor sequel.

Thor: Love and Thunder, the sequel to Thor: Ragnarok, stars several famous actors such as Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale or Chris Pratt. However, the absence of Tom Hiddleston partly reduces the heat of the blockbuster.

This Phase Four Marvel movie will hit US theaters on May 6, 2022. There are no announcements for other markets yet.

Black Panther Wakanda Forever

So far, there is little information about the Black Panther sequel. Although the film is in development, not many details about the story are revealed. The only thing we are sure of is the cast of stars. After the sudden death of Chadwick Boseman, the lead actor in the first Black Panther movie, fans are spreading different speculations about who would replace him in the second installment.

To pay tribute to Boseman, the director didn’t recast the role for T’Chala.

The film’s director, Ryan Coogler, confirmed that T’Challa’s role would not be recast, evoking rumors that Shuri (Letitia Wright), T’Challa’s sister, would continue her mission as Black Panther. However, many doubt that Shuri taking on the lead role would cause an abrupt transition of power in the film. These fans are hoping that the director will resurrect Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) for the role of Black Panther. However, this idea has little chance given the cameo of Michael B. Jordan.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled for July 8, 2022 in the US.

The Marvels

Concluding the list of Marvel 2021 and 2022 films today is The Marvels, which will be released on November 11 next year.

The Marvels is the 2019 sequel to Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani in the roles of Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan, respectively.
